I added this room to the back of our Tyler house for a home gym. The top side is a deck accessed by upstairs.
Construction on this project started with having a concrete contractor pour an end wall with footing. From there I built out the floor structure, then walls and ceiling. There are 9 windows which allows for great lighting during the day. The top is a rubber roof with a floating deck. The traditional trim, crown and dual ceiling fans match the rest of the house.
The gym also doubles as a man-cave where I display my barometer collection and my Mustang car show awards.
Since 2005 the upper deck boards have been replaced twice, and the back wall had a terrible water leak requiring a large tear-out. I learned a lot about water management with this project. Now it has an unsightly gutter to manage that.
