Rbots.net is a news website created by Roger Arrick and Steve Rainwater focused on robotics, AI and related topics. Here is a bit about the history.
In the '90s I purchased the Robots.net domain name for an unknown future project. In 2000 Steve and I came up with an idea to create a news site just for robotics and use the name.
Steve used mod_virgule project code to handle the content and hosted it at his place in Dallas.
I donated the Robot Menu content from Robotics.com which was a website where robot builders could display their creations. Here's what the Robot Menu looked like before being moved to Robots.net. See PDF.
Swirling Brain (Jim) was a regular poster throughout the years and created some comics too.
Yearly we tried to do an article with robot-related Christmas gift ideas and here is the one for 2005. See PDF.
In April of 2010 we interviewed Pat Metheny for his Orchestrion project at his Dallas show.
At one point Robots.net received 200,000+ hits a month.
Eventually we moved on to other projects, traffic died down, and in 2019 the domain name was sold off. It remains a news site as of this writing.
